Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Thursday rejected Surendranath Mishra, aka Sura Baba, head of Trahi Achyuta Ashram at Jhinti Sasan in a case registered against him by the CID-Crime Branch on the basis of a complaint by a disciple.
During hearing on the bail plea, an affidavit was filed by a son of Sura baba, claiming that there had been a compromise with the victim. But it was found that the disciple had gone on record that there was no compromise, and he wanted to prosecute
Sura baba was found liable for orchestrating attempts from inside the jail to tamper with, fabricate documents and file false affidavits in court by his henchmen to pave the way for his bail.
Justice S.K. Sahoo observed: “It is clear that even though the petitioner (Surendranath Mishra) is in jail custody, attempts are being made to tamper with evidence, fabricate documents and file false affidavits to get bail.”
