Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday granted conditional bail to industrialist Mahimananda Mishra, in connection with Cuttack Press Chhak bombing case and Paradip Tarinigada firing case.
Hearing the bail plea of the accused industrialist, Mahimananda, managing director of Odisha Stevedores Limited, Justice Debabrata Das had reserved the verdict on July 11.
Granting him the bail against the deposit of two security bonds of Rs 1 lakh each, Justice Das has ordered that during the bail period Mahimananda shall not influence any witnesses and to co-operate the police in the investigation process.
Notably, some miscreants had opened fire and hurled bombs at lawyer Abhay Bhatt near Press Chhak in Cuttack on September 20, 2013. Similarly, In May 2016, miscreants had opened fire at two youths identified as Jyotikanta Parida and Asutosh Swain at Tarinigada in Paradip.
During investigations, police found that both the attacks were orchestrated on the behest of Mahimananda. Later he was arrested and sent to Choudwar jail in both the cases.
