Chhattisgarh: In another jolt to the rebel organisations, a hardcore Maoist surrendered before Inspector General at Bastar district in Chhattisgarh on Thursday. The Maoist, identified as Bhetti Rama also surrendered his INSAS rifle to the police.
Bhetti was carrying a cash reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head. He was an active member of Konta area divisional committee and was allegedly involved in the 1995 violent attack in Sukuma district.
Besides, Bhetti was also involved in the 2014 Kasalpad encounter, 2017 Bhejjire encounter, 2006 improvised explosive device (IED) blast, and anti-landmine blast in March 2018. More than 24 cases of violence are registered against Bhetti at various police stations in Sukuma district, said the police.
According to police, Bhetti surrendered following disagreement with other Naxal leaders over Maoist ideologies. The rehabilitation policy of the government also influenced him to desert the outlaw organisation.
During interrogation, Bhetti revealed information about the formation of a new divisional committee at Balaghat including the details of a Naxal commando identified as Hidama Rajnandgo, the police further informed.
