Malkangiri: The much-awaited Gurupriya bridge on the Gurupriya river in Malkangiri district which was likely to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has been deferred due to heavy rain.
The date of bridge inauguration which was supposed to be decided on July 18 will now be finalised next week, informed Malkangiri information and public relation officer Manas Mishra on Monday.
He further informed that the Chief Minister will inaugurate the Gurupriya Bridge along with a seven-storey hospital in the district.
Notably, former chief minister JB Patnaik had laid the foundation stone for the bridge in 1982. Later, Naveen Patnaik too laid a stone in 2000. The estimated cost of the bridge project was Rs 172.58 crore.
