Gujarat ex-top cop Vanzara discharged in fake encounter case
Mumbai: A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday discharged former IPS officer DG Vanzara in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case citing lack of evidence.
The court also gave relief to Rajasthan cadre IPS officer Dinesh MN in the same case.
Vanzara, who is an accused in the fake encounter cases of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, was released on bail in February, 2015 after spending almost seven and half years in prison, as per sources.
The controversial police officer was arrested on April 24, 2007 by CID crime in connection with the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case.
