Bhubaneswar: The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Wednesday has arrested a man on charges of theft.
As per sources, Abhay Pradhan (Aged 32 years) from Dhenkanal district had stolen the bag of Suraj Singh of Madhya Pradesh who had come to the city to attend army recruitment examination. The youth was resting near railway booking counter on March 7 evening when the accused picked his bag.
The complainant had his mobile phone, cash of Rs 1600, Voter ID Card, Aadhaar Card and other documents in his bag. All the stolen items have been recovered from Pradhan. A case (37/17) has been registered in this regard and he was produced in a court on Wednesday.
In another incident, GRP arrested another person named Manoranjan Naik alias Manu (aed 31 years) of Mayurbhanj district on charges of stealing the bag of Pankaj Kumar (Aged 22 years) from Bihar who had also come to the city to attend the army recruitment examinations, while he was resting near the booking counter.
The complainant had kept his mobile phone, cash of Rs 1100, voter ID card, Aadhaar card and other documents. The valuables were recovered from Naik. A case 38/17 has been registered and Naik was produced in a court on Wednesday.
