Bhubaneswar : The school and Mass Education Minister, Debi Prasad Mishra announced Grant in Aid (GIA) for 686 upper primary (UP) schools in Odisha on Friday. The grant will be provided to the schools on arrears basis from April 1, 2004.
As per the sources, GIA was included for the schools from August 1,2006, but the teachers protested and demanded GIA with effect from April 1, 2004. The ministerial committee, after a review, found that the teachers are eligible to get GIA benefits from April 2004. Around 1372 assistant teachers and headmasters will be benefited by the move. The state government has located a budget of Rs 5.76 crores towards the GIA.
