Bhubaneswar: Alleged over blatant violation of norms the Information and Broadcasting Ministry on Sunday ordered two more news channels to go off air.
The development followed the one-day ban order on NDTV India. The two channels News Time Assam and Careworld TV have been both asked to shut down their broadcast. While the former has been asked to go off air for one day on November 9 the same day NDTV would also be out of air, Careworld TV has been ordered to be banned for seven days starting from November 9.
Sources from government said News Time Assam has been accused of revealing the identity of a brutally tortured minor boy. After considering all aspects since some other channels also broadcasted the same content the ministry recommended the ban on the channel.
It said the news channel has been accused of multiple norms violations over the years including derogatory show on women, open coverage of dead bodies.
Earlier on Friday, the I&B Ministry had ordered a shut down on NDTV India for leaking out sensitive and strategically important details during Pathankot air base terrorist attack.
