Bhubaneswar: The body of a girl was found in a hotel room in Mancheswar area of Bhubaneswar Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Laxmipriya Biswal of Khurda area.
According to sources, Laxmipriya aged between 25 and 26 years had checked into hotel Highway Inn in Mancheswar area along with his male friend Aditya Mohapatra, a resident of Dolamundei Sahi in Puri, on August 22.
According to the hotel staff, the couple was staying in room No 121 of the hotel by identifying themselves as husband-wife. The staff yesterday demanded the room rent from Aditya. However, he left the hotel at around 4 pm yesterday saying he would pay the money later.
As Aditya did not return to the hotel till late at night, the hotel staff tried to contact him. However, his cellphone was found to be switched off. The hotel staff today found the room locked. Later, they contacted the police.
The police rushed to the hotel and broke open the room only to find the body of the girl lying in a pool of blood. There were injury marks on the backside of her head, the police said.
The police launched a probe into the matter. The police suspected the girl was murdered by her male friend. “He was absconding. Efforts are on to nab him,” police said.
