Cuttack: Over 1 quintal ganja was seized by the central excise intelligence officials on Wednesday at OMP Square here with arrest of four persons.
The arrested have been identified as Pratap Dutta and Puspa Das from West Bengal, and Subham Sahu and Kanhu Nayak of Cuttack. They were later forwarded to court.
Acting on a tip-off, the official intercepted an auto-rickshaw at OMP Square in the city. During search operation the contraband was found stashed in packets. The excise sleuths seized the ganja and took the four into custody.
The ganja was being smuggled to West Bengal from Phulbani, police interrogation revealed.
The market value of the seized contraband has been estimated to be around Rs 6 lakh, an official said.
