Bhubaneswar: A day after resigning from Biju Janata Dal (BJD), former Mayurbhanj MP Laxman Tudu, joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Sunday.
The announcement was made during the JMM’s Central Committee meeting held at Ranchi today afternoon.
Tudu said he decided to join JMM keeping the interest of the tribal people in the state and to ensure balanced development.
Tudu, a senior political leader and once BJD’s tribal face in Mayurbhanj, joined the party in presence of JMM president and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Sibu Soren, leader of opposition in Jharkhand assembly Hemant Soren and other senior leaders.
It may be mentioned here that on Saturday Tudu had informed about his resignation, in a letter to the BJD chief and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, without citing any reasons.
Notably, a three-time district president of BJD, Tudu was denied BJD ticket for the 2014 election as the party leadership preferred the sitting MLA Ramchandra Hansda. Tudu had won the Lok Sabha polls from Mayurbhanj in 2009.
