Sambalpur: Two minors girls and three women were rescued from the Puri-Lokmanya Tilak super-fast express train by the Government Railway Police (GRP) here Tuesday while being allegedly trafficked to Mumbai.
The GRP personnel have also detained a couple for interrogation in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, about the trafficking the cops carried out a search in the train at Sambalpur railway station and rescued the girls from the first coach of the train.
According to police, the couple hailing from Dhenkanal were trafficking the girls to Mumbai on the pretext of engaging them in jobs.
Reportedly, the police is trying to establish contact with the families of the rescued girls while other probe in this regard is underway, said a source.
