Cuttack: The much awaited 16th Barabati Dance Festival, popularly known as ‘Barabati Nrutyotsava’ will be organized here in the city from December 20 to December 24. The dance festival will be organized in an open stage in front of the majestic Barabati Fort.
A preparatory meeting chaired by Deputy Collector Laxmidhar Mohanty , was held here in the office of the collector on Wednesday to discuss on the ways to make the festival a success. It was informed during the meeting that eminent dancers from Japan, Singapore and Australia are supposed to perform during the festival. Besides, artists from Kolkata would perform Kathak and artists from Andhra Pradesh would perform Bharatnatyam in the festival.
In association with the Department of Tourism and Culture, OMFED and other Self Help Groups, the festival would also have an exhibition where stalls will be set up to display traditional art and craft of the state to boost tourism potential of the state.
Among others present during the meeting were Akashvani Kendra Director Prasanjit Mohanty and Member of Nrutyotsava Committee Sasmita Panda.
