Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to the families of those killed in the SUM Hospital fire mishap. The announcement from state government comes around 40 hours after the tragic fire mishap that occurred on Monday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Amit Bannerjee, the vice chancellor of Siksha O Anusandhan University that runs SUM Hospital, had announced Rs 5 lakhs for families of the bereaved and assistance in treatment of victims.
Meanwhile, Union health minister JP Nadda reached Bhubaneswar today to meet victims. He visited AIIMS hospital and met the victims under treatment there. The health minister also said that he will not be blaming anyone for the tragedy since the state government has already ordered probe into the matter. Rather he is here to meet the victims and see what assistance can be provided immediately.
