Bhubaneswar: After the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) withdrew its partnership from the Make in Odisha conclave, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) has roped in to be the new partner of the Make in Odisha conclave to be held in November this year.
Confirming the partnership, Industries Minister Ananta Das on Friday said, “After a meeting, it has been decided that FICCI will be our partner in Make in Odisha initiative.”
A team of representatives will visit three countries – Italy, Germany and Saudi Arabia – on July 1st to meet investors for the conclave, he added.
Notably, the Government of Odisha had successfully organized Make in Odisha Conclave 2016 during November 30- December 02, 2016 in partnership with the CII. A total of 124 investment intents worth over INR 3.64 lakh crore were received during the investor meets leading upto the Conclave in 2016.
However, the decision of CII in April this year to step down as partner for Make in Odisha 2018 summit had sparked political controversy after the chairman and vice chairman of CII’s state council — Arun Mishra of Tata Steel’s Gopalpur project and Dhamra Port CEO Subrat Tripathy — tendered their resignation following the decision of CII.
