Koraput: A farmer, who had reportedly tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide due to alleged load burden in Koraput district, died at a hospital on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Balaram Guntha.
According to sources, Balaram had taken loan from a bank. However, he could not repay the loan after suffering huge loss in the farming and was in severe mental depression.
He allegedly consumed pesticide on Thursday. His family members rushed him to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition. However, he died while undergoing treatment today.
Notably, a farmer had committed suicide in Sambalpur district a few days back after suffering loss in farming. Similarly, two farmers took the extreme step in Bolangir district earlier this month.
