Bhadrak: A day after Odisha police arrested five persons in Balasore district with seizure of Rs 1.5 lakh fake currency notes, as many as 92 counterfeit notes have been seized from Bhandaripokhari area in Bhadrak district on Monday.
Police have arrested three persons with seizure of the fake notes of Rs 13,300.
According to reports, Bhandaripokhari police had a tip-off regarding operation of a fake currency note circulation racket in the district, following which police conducted raid and arrested three persons with seizure of Rs 15, 000 from their possession.
The arrested have been identified as Chandrakant Nayak of Nerada village in Bhadrak and his two brother-in-laws Debashish Mohanty and Ajay Mohanty.
They were allegedly involved in circulation of fake notes in the region after bringing those from Anandpur in Keonjhar district, police said.
Out of the Rs 15,000 seized, 51 notes of Rs 100 denomination and 41 notes of Rs 200 denomination were found counterfeit amounting to a total of Rs 13,300. Police suspect involvement of a racket behind the incident.
