St Petersburg: Explosion between two underground metro stations in Russia’s second biggest city killed at least 10 people and injured over 50 today. The explosions happened even as President Vladmir Putin was on a visit to the city.
The blasts have reportedly been caused by shrapnel filled devices. Though initially there were reports of two explosions, it was found out later that a single explosion had been carried out between two stations. The hand made explosive is believed to be equivalent to 200 grams of TNT. Some eye witnesses said an unidentified person left it in a suitcase on the carriage.
President Putin has expressed his condolences after the “possible terror attack”.
