Bhubaneswar: State’s Employment Exchanges have become useless with employment guarantee just two words without any real significance for largely underemployed youth mass of state statistics revealed that only a paltry 32 thousand out of more than 9 lakh job aspirants have so far got jobs.
In a reaction to an assembly question on Friday, Minister of Labour and Employment Prafulla Mallick said barring employment exchange youths are being recruited through a varied of processes. While 9, 89,204 enrollers have registered in exchanges only 32,587 have got their jobs, Mallick said.
The state government has recruited 34,220 persons through OPSC, Staff Selection Commission while given employment to 79,013 through job fair.
Informing on the hiring scenario by industries the minister said as many as 2,46,813 people have been employed in various industries out of which 95,222 people from within the state have got recruitment while 51,589 out state people are doing jobs in them.
Different sectors have been directed to intake 90 per cent in unskilled level, 60 per cent in skilled level and 30 per cent in supervisory level from within the state, the minister said.
Collectors have been directed to submit reports on employment by different domestic agencies and whether they are adhering to the norms made by the labour department will be inspected, the minister added.
