New Delhi: In a huge setback for the Congress just before the Uttar Pradesh Election, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, former Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) Chief on Thursday joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of party chief Amit Shah.
Addressing reporters later, Joshi attacked Congress saying when the whole world has readily accepted Indian Army’s surgical strike, Congress and other parties have questioned its credibility.
Apart from it, she said that she is hurt by Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Khoon ki dalaali’ remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Joshi said she was also unhappy over the party’s choice of Sheila Dikshit, the former Delhi Chief Minister, as the state’s chief ministerial candidate.
Meanwhile, Congress called Joshi’s exit and joining the BJP a ‘Family Tradition’. Her brother and former Uttarakhand CM Vijay Bahuguna had revolted against Congress and joined BJP in May.
Notably, the 67 year-old veteran was the president of the UPCC from 2007 to 2012.
