Sakhigopal: A 60-year-old woman was allegedly strangulated to death by her daughters-in-law in Satyabadi area of Puri district.
Although the incident took place on July 29, it came to light on Tuesday after the arrest of the accused duo. They were identified as Sandhyarani Moharana and Manasi Moharana.
According to sources, Sandhyarani and Manasi had strangulated their mother-in-law Sabitri on July 29 and dumped her body in a pond. Later, they told their husbands that their mother-in-law had gone missing.
Four days after the incident, the body was fished out from the pond. The police conducted the postmortem and interrogated the accused duo on suspicion. Subsequently, they broke down and confessed to the crime.
The police produced the accused women in a court today.
