Bhubaneswar: In a major jolt for the infamous gangsters Dhal Samanta Brothers aka D-Brothers, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today attached immovable properties of worth Rs 8.82 crore of their associates namely Bharat Bhusan Swain, Siba Prasad Gochhi, Krushna Chandra Das, Sangramjit Nath, Sarat Kumar Sahoo and others.
The provisional attachment order for attaching the immovable properties by ED has been issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. The properties attached include land and buildings in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Earlier, the ED had attached total property of worth Rs 8.2 crore including the duo’s bank accounts having deposits of Rs 3.5 crore on March 29.
Notably, a total property to the tune of Rs 17.5 crore has been attached so far by ED belonging to D-Brothers and their associates.
Earlier, police had arrested the Dhal Samanta brothers in January 2016 and on 30th July last year, a special team of the Commissionerate Police had arrested two associates Debadatta Das alias Lipuna (23) and Chandan Behera (30), from Kolkata.
As many as 21 cases have been registered against the Dhalasamanta brothers at various police stations.
Presently, Sushant Dhalasamanta is lodged in Jharpada Special Jail and Sushil Dhalasamanta has been jailed in Balasore District Jail.
