East Coast Railway on the fast track of progress


Bhubaneswar: Umesh Singh, General Manager East Coast Railway during his interaction with media at Rail Sadan highlighted different progress of works of this zone.  Singh said that Odisha has received the highest budgetary allocation of Rs. 5102 crore in 2017-18.

He said various activities have been taken for the infrastructural development this year such as 2 new lines and 12 Doubling projects have been commissioned.  74 nos. of Road Over Bridges (ROB) and Subways have been completed.  37 Nos of Bridges were re-built/rehabilitated. One freight terminal commissioned at Visakhapatnam. 128 Unmanned Level Crossing Eliminated and 19 Manned Level crossings had been eliminated.

 Singh said that track will be fit to run the train till Nayagarh Station of Khurda-Bolangir Railway Line by the May-2017 and the work from the Bolangir end of the project has already been started.   Bolgarh PH to be completed soon.

He said as a part of Green initiatives 3294 nos. of bio-toilets has been fitted in 895 coaches to maintain cleanliness at stations and tracks.  10 trains (connecting Puri with other religious places like Rameswaram and Dwarika) have been converted into green trains with zero discharge.  In 2017-18 financial year  Important work planned are  Bypass line at Khurda Road, Vizianagaram and Titlagarh, MEMU (Main Line Electric Multiple Unit) shed at Khurda Road, Commissioning of Bhubaneswar New Station, Khurda Road-Puri Greed Corridor,  Wi-Fi facility at Sambalpur, Rayagada, Vijiyanagaram, Jagdalpur, Berhampur, Bhadrak, Jjapur and Srikakulam stations.  Paralakhemundi Station building work will start this year and Development of Talcher Road station.

Foundation stone laying and commencement of work in progress at Norla Road for the Electric Loco POH Workshop and Maneswar for freight maintenance facility.
