Bhubaneswar: The Khandagiri police on Thursday have arrested two persons on the charges of smuggling tobacco here in the city.
The accused persons have been identified as Abhimanyu Behera of Nayagarh, who serve as a bus helper and Ashok Kumar Pahari of East Midnapore, West Bengal.
Acting on a tip-off, police nabbed the duo from Baramunda bus stand and seized eight bags of tobacco and four bags of raw materials used to make ‘gutka’.
As per police, the duo had brought the tobacco from West Bengal to supply it in Berhampur district.The value of seized item was estimated at Rs 10 lakh.
However, a case has been registered and the duo was produced in a court.
