Balasore: BrahMos supersonic cruise missile has been successfully test-fired by India today (Saturday) from a test rage along Odisha coast. The missile is capable of carrying a warhead of 300 kg.
The missile was test fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha about 11:33 am, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) officials said.
A senior DRDO scientist associated with the project said, “It was an excellent launch and a great success”.
They said, the two-stage missile, one being solid and the second one ramjet liquid propellant has already been inducted to the Army and Navy, while Air Force version is in final stage of trial.
BrahMos Aerospace, an Indo-Russian joint venture is in advance stage for test launching the air version of the sophisticated missile and work in this project is in progress.
