This year the event started on Friday with a special show on German Shepherd Dogs that showcased their agility and obedience. This is the second specialty show of GSD confederation, Kalinga chapter. As many as 70 such GSDs had taken part in the opening day event. During the show veterinarians check up the dogs before the shows.
On the second day of the event was for Labrador Retrievers where these dogs performed various skills to enthrall the animal lovers. Besides, other breeds also had gathered to take part in the agility and obedience test. As per organizers, Geeny a Belgian Malinois dog from Tata steels won the first prize while Bhola bhagat a labrador from Odisha won second prize and Josh another Belgian Malinois from Tata came third. Twenty-nine labradors had taken part in the exclusive labrador event while 23 different breed dogs had participated in the agility and obedience test.
“Due to various reasons the number of dog participation from outside have gone down. Many people who normally come from South India, mostly from Chennai have not come this time. So the numbers seem low,” said Subhendu Mallick, a member of the Kennel club.
