DGP suspends tainted Jatni IIC
Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma on Thursday placed under suspension the inspector-in-charge of Jatni police station, Sanjib Kumar Mohanty, who was arrested by the vigilance sleuths for taking Rs 50,000 bribe.
While Mohanty has been put under suspension with immediate effect from today, a departmental processing will be taken against him. The move came after the Commissionerate Police earlier had recommended the DGP for suspension of the tainted IIC.
During the suspension period, Mohanty will remain under the disciplinary control of Commissionerate of police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, a statement issued by the state police headquarters said.
Notably, the vigilance sleuths of Cuttack division led by DSP Prakash Nayak had caught Mohanty red-handed while he was accepting the bribe from Sunil Kumar Mangaraj of Kudiari village under Jatni police limits for not implicating him in a criminal case under major Section of IPC.
Later, the vigilance officials had carried out searches at his quarters in Jatni and detected Rs 6 lakh in cash and gold jewelleries. He has been arrested and in the judicial custody since September 4.
