Dengue patient dies at SCB in Cuttack

Cuttack: One patient succumbed to dengue at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Tralokya Barik, a native of Dimiria village under Nandipada police limits in Keonjhar district.

According to sources, Barik was admitted to the SCB by his family members on June 22 after he was tested dengue positive. He was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the medicine ward after his condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to the viral disease today.

Notably, the state witnessed the first dengue death of this year with the mosquito-borne disease claiming the life of a woman in the state capital on June 7.

The deceased, Pratima Das (48), hailed from the BDA Colony in Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar.

On June 18, a special dengue ward was made operational at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in view of dengue scare in the state.
