New Delhi: The demonetisation move of BJP led government has not spared even politicians who had to make changes in arrangements in the weddings in their family. These include BJP minister Nitin Gadkari whose daughter will get married on December 3.
The Union transport minister had to cut short some lavish plans for the reception of his daughter Ankita’s wedding next week. Gadkari had earlier planned for a bigger guest list for the three receptions at Nagpur, Mumbai and Delhi but following demonetisation the guest list has been reduced as per sources close to the minister’s family.
Similarly, BJP leader Prakash Mehta, Housing Minister in Maharashtra whose son Harsh will tie the nuptial knot on November 27, has said it will be a low key affair who, as per sources, had printed 25,000 wedding cards but will now be inviting only 5000 guests.
Agriculture minister Pandurang Phundkar who had planned a grand function for his daughter’s wedding in December has now said it will be a simple affair. His MLA son Akash will also be getting married in December and the family has cut down the expenses for his wedding too.
Meanwhile, despite the cash crunch across the nation, BJP politician Janardhan Reddy’s daughter’s estimated Rs 500 crore wedding ad left the nation shocked. Simialrly, many claim the Maharshtra PWD minister Eknath Shinde’s MP son Shrikant’s wedding to have been a Rs 100 crore affair. Infact, Shrikant’s wedding card weighed half kilo thanks to the gifts and adornments it carried, sources said.
