Deep depression weakens, heavy rainfall in seven Odisha districts
Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday informed that the deep depression has weakened into a well marked low pressure following which light to moderate rain may occur in Odisha in the next 24 hours while heavy rain may lash seven districts in western and southern Odisha.
“Light to moderate rain/thundershowers likely to occur at many places over districts of Odisha during next 24 hours,” the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre said in a release.
The Met has sounded isolated heavy rainfall alert for the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi and Koraput.
“The deep depression over north Odisha & neighbourhood weakened into a depression and moved northwestwards and lay centred at 0830 hours IST of today, the 07 September, 2018 over north Chhattisgarh & neighbourhood near Latitude 22.9 degree N and Longitude 83.3 degree E, 30 km south of Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh) and 140 km east of Pendra Road (Chhattisgarh). It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken into a well marked low pressure area during 12 hours,” the IMD said.
