Bhubaneswar: Veteran Ollywood actor Debu Bose passed away on Wednesday night at a private hospital in Hyderabad following prolonged illness. He was 77.
Bose was undergoing treatment at the hospital since May due to cardiac illness and was put on life support system. Earlier, he had suffered heart attacks twice.
Born on December 2, 1942, Bose has acted in more than 120 Odia movies. Besides, he also acted and produced several Odia television soaps.
Bose started his acting career in 1980s with the movie ‘Tapasya’. He later went on to win hearts of many cine lovers in Odisha with his influential acting in ‘Pua Mora Kala Thakura’, ‘Samaya Kheluchi Chaka Bhaunri’, ‘Ki Heba Sua Posile’, ‘Phula Chandana’, ‘Suna Chadhei’, ‘Kaberi’, ‘Sahari Bagha’ etc.
The famous actor was last seen in Odia movie ‘Raasta’, 2014.
Apart from being an actor, Bose was an expert dancer and choreographer. He had received training from renowned Odissi dancer Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. Not just this, he had also directed several plays during his stint with a regional theatre group ‘Diganta’.
A pall of gloom descended in the Ollywood Industry after the demise of Bose, who was popular for portraying father characters in movies.
