Cuttack: Notorious gangster siblings Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamanta are running their extortion racket from behind bars, informed Cuttack DCP Akhilesvar Singh on Sunday after arrest of one of their henchmen.
While being behind the bars in Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar, the Dhalasamanta duo is running their crime syndicate from the jail, the DCP revealed holding a press conference here after the arrest of prime accused – Mrutyunjay Nayak – in Bijan Pal firing case.
Nayak was acting on the instructions of Dhalasamanta brothers. Singh further informed that the prime accused Mrutyunjay Nayak alias Miku had fired at Pal with an intention of killing him on the direction of Sushant Dhalsamanta.
“Sushant Dhalsamant had hired Miku to eliminate Bijay Pal after he denied paying extortion,” said Singh.
Police seized two pistols, 29 rounds of live bullets and other incriminating objects from his possession during his arrest, he added.
Miscreants had fired at Pal in Subhadrapur under Sadar police limits February 23 this year. However, he managed to escape the attack.
