Cuttack: Odias in Delhi who miss the mouth watering Dahibara of Cuttack, specially the famous Raghu Dahibara or even Buxi Bazar’s irresistible Dilbahar lassi can soon savour these typical delicacies of the Millenium City and more at the Odisha Parba to be hosted from April 29 to May 1. The event will be hosted at the India Gate Lawns of New Delhi to observe Utkal Divas by Odia Samaj.
To overcome their nostalgia for Odia culture, this group of Odias are going to host the Odisha parba in which first time famous food vendors, craftsmen and artistes will recreate Odisha in the national capital. Be it sea shell crafts from Puri or Dalkahi dance of Western Odisha, there will be glimpses of the state’s culture at the event.
The Parba will be organized at August Kranti Udyan ‘A’ at India Gate Lawns. Among some interesting features of the festival will be a Paridhaan Utsav – a fashion show of traditional wear designed by native weavers of the state; a Bhagabat Tungi set up; village haat replicas, sand art by Sudarshan Patnaik. A total of 350 Odia artisans are being pooled in to construct the infrastructure of the Odisha Parba.
Another major attraction will be a 52 ft high replica of Rath used in Puri Rath Yatra (Car Festival) that will be displayed just inside the entrance gate. The replica will be prepared using same materials, body part, steps and processes as used in the original. An exclusive stall will be set up for selling of ‘sukhili bhoga’ of Jagannath Temple, Puri.
There will also be a digital signature wall and selfie point. Many folk dances like jhumar, ranapa, ghumar and so on will be performed while Prince Dance Group will also showcase dance.
