Bhubaneswar: The Customs sleuths on Friday seized smuggled gold worth Rs 10.56 lakh at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) from two passengers of Indian origin coming from Malayasia’s Kuala Lumpur.
Acting on a tip-off, the cops intercepted the two suspects hailing from Chennai who arrived here at BPIA by Air Asia Flight No. AK-31.
During search of their luggage the custom sleuths recovered four cylindrical gold bars of foreign origin. The smuggled gold bars weighing around 340.070 grams was found concealed inside trolley wheels, a release stated.
The duo has been detained for interrogation while further investigations are underway, informed BB Pattanaik Assistant Commissioner of Customs BPI Airport.
