Lakhanpur: On suo moto, state crime branch today has stepped forward to probe into Sakjukta Jaipuria’s murder case in which the ailing girl was killed while being treated by sorcerer cousins in Bijapali village under Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda district late on Thursday.
The Rengali police have so far arrested 11 people including the victim’s father and mother alleged for abetting the crime
Earlier, Sanjukta Jaipuria was found dead in a room under mysterious circumstances of her house on Friday morning by Rengali Police and allegedly detained Sanjukta’s two cousin sisters named Soudamini (22) and Santoshini Jaipuria (23).
The Brajrajnagar SDPO N C Dandsena said the arrested sisters are alleged of practicing sorcery and insisting the victim for participating in a weird ritual performed to heal her from an evil spirit. The Sisters duo tortured the victim by striping her naked and beating her with a stone object. The victim was beaten to an unconscious state and then her chest was speared to death with a trident.
The dead body has been sent for autopsy and the report is expected to provide lead for further investigation in the case.
