New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: After successful completion of the first-phase separation surgery which lasted for 20 hours, the conjoined twins, Jaga and Balia of Kandhamal, have been kept on ventilator at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, said a Neuro-surgeon on Tuesday.
“After administering anesthesia to the twins on Monday at 5 am, the operation had been undertaken at 10.30 am. It continued till 6 am today, and they were brought out of the operation theatre at 8 am. They have been kept in the ventilator and are stable now,” the doctor told reporters in New Delhi.
He said the next stage of operation would be held a month or one and a half months later after checking the boys’ healing progress.
It may be mentioned that a team of 40 surgeons, including an expert from Japan, were engaged in the surgery.
