New Delhi: According to reliable sources Congress poll strategist Prashant Kishore has been ousted from Congress’ mission to retrieve UP. As per reports the state leadership of Congress in UP has joined ranks to express inability to work with him.
The matter turned worse after Kishore met Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for grand alliance or “maha-gathbandhan” with Congress. Since then there has been tension between Kishore and UP Congress. He has now been asked to focus largely on Punjab. Most members of Kishore’s team have also come back to Delhi from Lucknow.
On the other hand, after demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes political activities in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh have slowed down.
Last week before big denomination notes were scrapped, some political parties, which had already announced the date of rallies or public meetings, have now either cancelled or deferred their programme.
The second phase of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s “Vikash se Vijay Rath Yatra” was cancelled and the revised schedule of “Ratha Yatra” will release in a day or two, said an SP spokeperson. Likewise, the Congress move for early distribution of party tickets for upcoming assembly election will also be delayed, sources said.
