Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate police officials on Friday have said that adequate security arrangements will be put in place in the capital city during Holi celebrations.
Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi has said that 15 platoon police force will be deployed in the city during the festival of colours. The DCP also said that they have imposed restrictions on commercial Holi celebrations citing security issues.
Around 12 organisers had applied for licenses to arrange mass Holi celebrations at different places in the city. However, in view of some incidents of violence during last year’s Holi celebrations, he said that close watch has been kept on security issues before allowing licenses to some of the organisers.
On the other hand, event organisers claim they have proper security arrangements to celebrate the festival of colours in a big way.
Police said that notices will be sent to the organisers who will go ahead with the events without the licenses.
As per sources, some event organisers have planned to arrange such celebrations at the Sahid Nagar Durga Mandap and Kali Mandir Ground in Satyanagar.
