Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police (CP) conducted a special drive under all the police stations in the Twin City for execution of non-bailable warrants and prosecution of habitual offenders under the preventive provisions of law.
According to reports, day blocking were conducted in 37 places under the Commissionerate Police area in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, in which 5867 motor vehicle offenders including some drunken driving cases were booked.
Besides, 46 non-bailable warrants were executed and four habitual criminals were booked during the special drive in the twin cities.
While 17 excise cases were detected and 14 accused persons were forwarded to the court of law, within the area, a fine of Rs 2,84,000 was collected from motor vehicle offenders.
This apart, drunken driving and 2 gambling cases were detected along with the arrest of 12 persons and cash of Rs 1,60,160 seized from them.
Besides, a case was registered under NOPS Act along with seizure of 15 grams of brown sugar and cash of Rs 1,60,000.
Moreover, three cases were registered under Arms Act with arrest of four persons and seizure of five country made small arms along with 11 live ammunition.
As per the Supreme Court guidelines, the CP also busted 14 illegal fire crackers manufacturing units and arrested 10 persons during the special drive.
The CP has said that the drive will continue in view of forthcoming Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar.
