Bhubaneswar : Day and night temperatures across the city have dipped down to three to five degree Celsius below normal. With the maximum temperature in the city at 29 degree Celsius, the minimum temperature hovered at 16.2 degree Celsius on Sunday.
As per Met officials, cold wave conditions in the city will continue for next couple of days due to icy winds blowing at 25km/hour from the snow capped mountains in the northern parts of the country. The city has been experiencing chilly days since a week.
The state at large is also experiencing winter chills with the fog and cold wave. The lowest minimum temperature of 8.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Phulbani on Sunday. Similarly, Sunabeda recorded the minimum temperature of 10 degree Celsius.
In hilly areas like Kandhamal district of the state, fog has added to the chill factor with no sign of the sun till 10 am in the morning to bring respite for the people reeling under an intense cold wave. People were seen throng outside the tea stalls to ease themselves from the chilled weather.
However, Bhubaneswar Meterological Centre Director, Sarat Chandra Nayak said that with no further fall, the temperature will shift hardly one degree up or down till November end.
