Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will not celebrate his 71st birthday on Sunday as a mark of solidarity to army men martyred during a militant attack at Uri in Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, sources from CM Office said.
Party men of BJD have been asked to refrain from greeting CM at his residence and also not to celebrate his birthday.
As many as 19 soldiers lost their lives during a brazen militant attack at an army camp in Uri which also saw tensions rising between both countries India and Pakistan.
Earlier the CM had also kept himself aloof from his birthday celebrations in 2011, 2013 and 2014 due to incidence of natural calamities like floods and cyclones in state.
Similarly, last year he also refrained from celebrating his birthday due to an unfortunate gas balloon blast incident outside his residence which left 11 kids injured. The kids had gathered to greet him on eve of his birthday.
