CM Naveen announces Rs 500 per month for thalassemia, temophilia and sickle cell patients

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced Rs 500 per month travel expenses for Thalassemia, Hemophilia & Sickle Cell patients on occasion of Voluntary Blood Donation Day.

CM Patnaik said that his government is committed to ensure easy accessibility of adequate quantity of safe and quality blood to all sections of the community.

The state government has adopted latest technology for screening of blood on a pilot basis for 6 blood banks at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, and Burla. The expenditure involved in the NAT/PCR screening procedure will be borne by the state government.

However, CM further added that the government will soon open seven more blood component separation units seven places Balasore, Baripada, Keonjhar, Koraput, Baragarh, Bolangir and Rourkela.

Besides this, the state government is also planning to open four blood component separation units at Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, Phulbani and Bhawanipatana in next year.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik felicitated 27 organisations and institutions including Jibanbindu, Ama Odisha, Satya Sai and many other organizations for improving awareness on blood donation and increase voluntary donation in the state.
