Bhubaneswar: After a disappointing show in the recently held panchayat polls, Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Sunday has met the newly elected Sarpanchs, Panchayat Samiti Members and Zilla Parishad Members of Koraput and Jajpur districts.
While speaking to the media, Pattnaik said that the representatives have made various suggestions to which he has agreed and have also encouraged them to work honestly and hard for the people. He also informed them of having another meeting within six months to review the situation.
During the meeting, Pattniak led importance of reaching out to the general people and solve their problems. He said that BJD is a people centric party. As such, many welfare schemes have been developed by the government towards the upliftment and betterment of the people. He advised all the elected members to improve on their working style and to work in away as such that the party’s stand can be maintained.
The local body representatives along with the MLA’s and MP’s of the two districts discussed about the election results and future strategies. Former Minister Rabinarayan Nanda, MP Jhin Hikka led the delegation of Koraput’s representatives while Energy Minister Pranab Parkash Das and MLA Amar Satpathy, Priti Ranjan Ghadei and Pranab Kumar Balabantaray represented Jajpur district.
However, it may be noted here that the meeting was held at party office for the first time. Earlier, the representatives used to meet the CM in his residence.
