Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen patnaik today inaugurated the 21st Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra award ceremony at Rabindra mandap this evening.
Addressing the gathering the chief minister paid rich tribute to Guru Kelucharan and described Guruji as an invaluable gem of India’s cultural arena who called upon to work for protection of the uniqueness and fundamental philosophy of our art.
The CM said, “ Guruji was an invauable gem of India’s cultural arena and he was the one who called upon to work for protection of the uniqueness and fundamental philosophy of or art”.
Naveen also felicitated artists participating in the five day fest organised by Srjan.
Ttwo eminent personalities, Guru Dhruba Charan Biswal in the field of Odissi dance and Shyamamani Devi in the field of classical music will be awarded with the honorary award this year.
NALCO Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Yuva Pratibha Samman will be presented to both Lingaraj Pradhan and Namrata Mehta for Odissi dance, besides Jyotsna Jagannathan for Bharatnatyam and Jateen Kumar Sahoo for Odissi music.
The festival will witness performances by popular classical artists from within and outside the State.
The highlight would be a special presentation by dancers of the host organisation, Mahanayaka Bijayananda, which is a thematic presentation in Odissi dance on the life of Biju Patnaik.
