Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal congratulated Odisha’s Dutee Chand on sprinting to glory with a silver medal in women’s 100-metre event in the ongoing Asian Games in Jakarta on Sunday.
The ace sprinter clocked 11.32 seconds in the final of the 100-metre final event at 7.40 pm today.
Congratulating Dutee, Patnaik said, “You have made the nation proud and Odisha could not have been prouder! Best wishes.”

Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal also congratulated Dutee and wished her many more success in future.
Meanwhile, Odisha Athletics Association also congratulated Dutee Chand for her success in the prestigious Asian Games and announced Rs 50,000 cash award.
Dutee qualified for the final after finishing third with a timing of 11.43 seconds in the semi-final.
The young sprinter clocked 11.38 seconds in the second heat of the qualifying event to enter the semifinals beating Kazakhstan’s Olga Safronov (11.46) and Uzbekistan’s Nigina Sharipova (11.59).
Dutee had broken her national 100 metres mark by clocking 11.29 secs in the semi-finals on the final day of the Inter-State Athletics Championships in Guwahati on June 29 this year.
With this medal, India’s total medal tally now stands at 36.
