CM discusses Mahanadi row, state optimistic for results

Bhubaneswar: Chief  Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday returned after finishing his three day Delhi tour. He met Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussing on important issues like Mahanadi, Polavaram and Demonitisation.

Giving reactions to newsmen, Water Secretary Pradip Jena said state has supplied all necessary information and has demanded the Centre for formation of a tribunal for solving out the row.

Centre has been urged to direct Chhatisgarh to immediately halt the ongoing projects on the upstream Mahanadi. A detail document on the aspects of the river projects, their impacts, requirement of a tribunal has been sent for the consideration of the Centre.

The state is very optimistic about the results with Jena saying Odisha is hopeful of getting a positive result.

Meanwhile, BJP slammed the CM for his double standards on the issue with party leader Prithviraj Harichandan saying that while on one hand the state government is beating about the bush to go for the apex court for fighting the row on the other hand the CM is filling a petition before the Centre.
