Bhubaneswar: In yet another move, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today reviewed the flood situation which is still grim in several districts in Odisha and directed officials to carry out rescue and relief operations immediately.
The CM on a war footing directed the district administration as well as the state officials to expedite the rescue and relief operations to ensure availability of essentials near the flood-affected people.
Heavy rain in Baitarani River catchment has resulted in floods in several blocks of Bhadrak and Jajpur district, while flash flood in Nagavali and Kalyani Rivers of Rayagada district have wreaked havoc in the locality leaving numerous villages marooned and submerged in flood waters.
The flood in Rayagada has worst affected the district by washing away bridges and affecting the road connectivity. Aerial dropping of relief and rescue operation was initiated by the Indian Air force, NDRF, ODRAF and Indian Coast Guards.
