City traffic police collects record breaking fine

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar traffic police broke its all time record to collect a massive Rs. 2.77 lakh from 856 rule breakers in a single day, police sources said.

Speaking on the development, ACP Jatin Panda said measures to curb road accidents and traffic predicaments have begun.

As many as 12 points have been picketed by police check points whereby 856 persons were caught red handed either during speed driving, over loading, driving without helmet or drunken driving.

About a combined amount of Rs. 2.77 lakh was collected from them which is an all time record.

Panda reiterated that such regular checks will be done on a regular basis as he stressed on reinforcing traffic rules in coming days.
