Bhubaneswar: In a development, five minors have been rescued from the clutches of child traffickers in a joint operation conducted by the CHILDLINE Foundation, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Labour Officer.
Acting on a tip-off that five minors from Jharkhand were being trafficked to Vijaywada via Bhubaneswar Railway station in Tirupati Express, the team rescued the kids from the railway station while the train was on halt.
Earlier, seven children were rescued under Operation Muskaan with joint efforts of Nayapalli and Capital police on July 16. Among the rescued children, five were boys and two girls.
They are currently lodged at two open shelters – Ruchika Social Service Organisation and Vishwa Jeevan Sangha – in the Capital city and their counseling has started.
Total 13 children have been rescued yet under the Operation Muskaan launched by the Odisha police.
