Sundergarh: Police claims to have busted a child trafficking racket by rescuing 13 minors from a train at Rourkela railway station late on Tuesday and arresting two persons involved in the illegal trade.
Reportedly, among the rescued minors three are boys while the rest are girls. The minors were being trafficked to Tamil Nadu on the pretext of job at a textile factory, police said.
Acting on reliable inputs Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) accompanied by local police carried out a search in the Tata- Alleppey Express in the wee hours of Tuesday.
It is suspected that a big racket is behind the child trafficking business and investigations are on the trace the racket mastermind, sources in the police said.
On Tuesday, the Government Railway Police (GRP) had rescued five girls including two minors from Sambalpur railway station while they were being trafficked to Mumbai in Puri-Lokmanya Tilak Super-fast Express. The GRP personnel had also detained a couple for questioning in this regard.
